Why do some fields on the 5500-series forms seem too short?
All field lengths on the 5500-series forms are dictated by the DOL EFAST group. Even though there's physically room for more data on the form, EFAST is only interested in a limited number of characters. This question comes up most often regarding the Trustee information on the Schedule P, but applies to other forms also.
